Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy Programs
The Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy is a state agency established to
acquire the mountainous lands ringing the Coachella Valley for open space,
recreational, and educational use. An important focus for this Conservancy
is protection of the palm oases in the region's mountainous canyons. While
it may accept lesser interests, most transactions have involved the sale or
donation of full title to the land. The Coachella Conservancy offers up to
fair market value for property within its jurisdiction.
Availability
The territory in which the Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy works is
specifically defined in the California Public Resources Code, but in
general it covers the portions of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains
and the Indio Hills that surround the Coachella Valley. The Conservancy can
be reached at (619) 776-5026.
