The data was compiled from a variety of sources, including public agencies, bank owners and operators, and non-profit organizations. Some of the terms used in this catalogue may be unfamiliar to those new to the concept of conservation banking.
"U.S.G.S. Quad Sheet(s)" refers to the 7.5' quadrangular maps generated by the U.S. Geologic Survey. (Please contact the U.S.G.S. in Menlo Park at (415) 329-4309 for information on obtaining these maps.)
"Credits" (under the heading "Size") refers to the ratio at which acreage must be purchased to mitigate for a specified impact.
Generally, each conservation bank is limited to a local "Service Area" which is determined by the appropriate government resource agencies.
