Actions Completed for Emergency Preparedness:

The California National Guard continues to monitor critical equipment on a monthly basis for emergency support.

The National Guard has practiced search and rescue and has trained other agencies in air loading procedures.

Actions Taken to Prepare for El Niño:

The National Guard has planned for early deployment of planning and command and control staffs, since early staging will decrease response time and improve support to civilian authorities. In addition, the National Guard has planned on simultaneous commitment to more than one regional emergency situation.

The National Guard is exploring the use of military technology to enhance relief and search and rescue efforts.
