The Boating Clean and Green Campaign is an
education and outreach program that promotes environmentally sound
boating practices to marine business and boaters in California. The program
is conducted by the California Coastal Commission and the California Department of Boating and Waterways.
Started in April 1997, the Campaign
conducts boater education throughout the state in partnership with many
public and private agencies that share a concern about educating boaters
about environmentally sound boating practices.
As part of its efforts
to promote clean green boating, the Campaign facilitates the northern
California and the Sacramento – San Joaquin Delta chapters of the California
Clean Boating Network (CCBN), trains "Dockwalkers" to conduct face-to-face
boater education, and influences the purchasing power of boaters through its
"Shopping Clean and Green" project.
