Program: Jobs in the Woods
Program Description: Provides financial assistance to communities with proposals designed to:
- Restore the health of watersheds by focusing activities on the long-term improvement of riparian and aquatic resource conditions in accordance with the Aquatic
- Conservation Strategy within the President's Forest Plan;
Restore impaired forest lands focusing activities on the long-term improvement of Late-Successional Reserves in the California Coast Province;
- Improve the social and economic conditions of timber dependent communities by creating longer duration, multi-skilled, family-wage jobs with emphasis on providing employment for displaced timber workers;
- Improve partnerships with local communities.
Eligible Communities: Communities affected by the President's Forest Plan.
Funding Information: Restoration projects are identified through extensive data collection and analyses and are implemented through a variety of avenues including: standard contracting, cooperative agreements with non-profit organizations, and requests for proposals. BLM looks for community-based and community-generated projects.
Timelines: Continuous funding cycle.
