Focus on Fall:
A series of articles offering insightful background for the upcoming meetings in Yosemite and Modesto. The first series of articles highlight topics of discussion slated for the October 10 Joint Conference with the Regional Council of Rural Counties. The last four articles focus on the next regional Council meeting in Modesto on November 14 & 15.
- Biomass as a Resource: John Shelley's classic article about the use of and associated issues with biomass in the United States.
- California Fire Plan and the National Fire Plan: These two articles compare the fire plans for California and for the nation as a whole. Discover the details of the fire practices in California versus the nation when it comes to providing wildfire protection.
- The California Fire Alliance: This is a very broad coalition of fire protection providers coming together to provide more efficient fire management programs.
- California Fire Safe Council: This coalition of over 50 government and private interests works to provide better fire protection to the citizens of California.
- Decade of Diversity: This October, the Council will travel to the Yosemite Valley to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the 1991 Agreement on Biological Diversity (MOU).
- November Meeting to Focus on Agricultural Challenges: Following these two events in Yosemite, the Council will next meet in Modesto on November 14 & 15. This will focus on a rare topic for the Council -- the economic challenges facing agriculture.
- Coalition Formed to Enhance the Lower Tuolumne River: Read the details of this new (and well-supported) coalition enhancing recreational opportunities and improving the natural environment simultaneously.
- Economic Impacts Facing California's Agricultural Community: A variety of factors have contributed to the current state of agriculture in our valley. Read the details and find out about possible solutions.
